What's Up With Red Anyway? Pt. 1

I was thinking about Valentine's Day and what it means to me being a Johnny Singleman right now. What does a guy like me think about when he thinks about V-Day? Better yet what does a guy like me who is an ARTIST think about?

The color red.

Why is it so associated with the holiday? Who decided it in the first place? And how did those conversation hearts get so popular when they taste like chalk?

Ok that was a random thought. Back to the color.

Some Google sleuthing reveals that there are many reasons that red and pink became known as Valentines day colors. Even the classic shape of the heart has a long history to it.

Red has so many different connotations to it, doesn't it? It has the power to attract, and to warn. To seduce and repel. It's a common color nowadays, but in antiquity it was a rare and expensive color. Seen in nature, we typically think of those things colored red as beautiful, and yet we know to stay away from it, most of the time. Red is hot, but red is also ripe and delicious if it's a fruit.

I'll tell you a little more about what I found in the next few days. In the meantime, enjoy 20 percent off of my RED collection on my web shop until the 14th of this month. (See what I did there?) Just enter the code "RED" in the coupon section at checkout.
