5x7.5 inches. Gouache on Nujabi watercolor paper.
It had been a while since Vanessa and I had gone to Tomales Bay to paint, but she had gone the day before and it was really pretty and sunny. The next day was pretty much the same so we took the opportunity to go out there and have a great day together.
Tips for artists:
- I use a lot of grainer brushes to make soft edge shapes. The style of brush you use with gouache matters a lot for the edges you want.
- I play up the colors I see in the shore cliff, which really brings it forward from the background.
- The colors in the waves are warmer than you might think, because what we’re looking at is actually under the water, which is darker and less blue.
