This wasn't actually the scene I set out to paint; I initially had the idea to paint a small pond at Shiloh Ranch. Imagine my surprise when I found it all fenced off with a bunch of tractors around it! Turns out they were redo-ing the trail in the area. 
 
I had to think on the fly and decide where else I could go that not only was a good scene to paint, but logistically worked for what I wanted to do (I brought my camera and giant aluminum tripod to film myself painting). I decided on a shady picnic area at the far east end of the park. 
 
This is a scene I had wanted to paint for a while anyway, so I'm glad I finally found a reason to. I'm always drawn to this scenes that have a lot of distance and atmosphere in them.
