8x10 inches. Gouache on paper mounted to board. Jenner, CA.
Painted during the 2025 Sonoma Plein Air event.
In a foggy scene like this, I become a bit of a sleuth, uncovering the hidden colors inside of the seemingly colorless. Each brush stroke searches for the right hue that still sits harmoniously within the strokes around it. I follow my eyes and my instinct developed from countless studies to satisfaction.
There’s nothing quite like spending a few hours in the scene itself, letting the scene itself guide your choices as an artist. It’s a unique feeling that always feeds my soul when I engage with it.
In this exchange between myself and the environment, every brushstroke becomes my way of saying: this matters, this exists, this is worth holding onto.
When you see this painting, I hope you feel that same quiet insistence that even the briefest moments deserve to be seen and remembered.
Comes varnished with a UV-resistant gloss finish. No need for glass!
