One of the most recognized landmarks in one of Tahoe's most popular areas! It's well worth the long steep hike down from the long narrow winding road that circles the lake. The color of the water is unreal! Fannette Island is the only island in the whole lake, and it's in the middle of Emerald Bay. People take their boats to the island and explore the ruins of the old Tea House on it. It was literally used as a tea house in the early 20th century.
